Stressing that that is not possible, Gotabhaya says there is no justice in the law if the investigations, hearings and rulings are all done by persons like Amaraweera.
He was speaking to the media today (07) while on a visit to Kandy where he paid homage at Sri Dalada Maligawa and also called on the top prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters.
Only ‘corruption’ was to eliminate the LTTE
The former defence secretary said the only ‘corruption’ he had committed was to eliminate the LTTE, and said it would be OK if that was punishable by imprisonment.
Responding to questions, he said successive presidents waged the war, but that it came to a conclusion only during the office of the previous president, adding that what he did was only to end it.
The Rajapaksas did not swindle the country, but they saved it at the risk of their lives, he claimed, noting that that commitment enabled him to end the war.
Why he came to Kandy?
He said he normally did not talk politics with Buddhist monks, but stressed that he came to Kandy today to inform the Mahanayake Theras about the injustices being done to him.
Asked if he intends entering politics, he said people expected him to, which has brought fears to persons like Mahinda Amaraweera, who talk of arresting him within a month.
