The Railways Department has decided to cancel the reservation facility for third-class compartment seats on the Colombo Fort-Badulla and Talaimannar trains, effective from Monday (Feb. 10).
However, these compartments will continue to operate as ordinary third-class compartments.
The department has decided to issue regular tickets for these compartments.
Meanwhile, the decision to revise train ticket fares on the upcountry railway line has been suspended following instructions from the General Manager, Railways.
The revised train fares will be announced in the future and until then, only the existing fares will be in force.
