Police have arrested 04 officers of the Excise Department over a shooting incident this evening (07).
According to the police, a group in a van had allegedly opened fire at a SUV near a fuel station at Marine-Drive in Bambalapitiya and both vehicles fleeing after several shots had hit the SUV.
Police had enacted road barriers and the van was stopped at Wellawatta. Police had discovered those in the van were excise officers, who had opened fire at the SUV, suspecting that its occupants were drug traffickers.
