The Election Commission has announced that 40 candidates have deposited their securities for the upcoming presidential election.
The acceptance of nominations will take place tomorrow morning (Aug. 15) from 9.00am – 11.00am.
Individuals will have the opportunity to submit objections from 9.00am – 11.30am.
Meanwhile, acting Police Media Spokesperson – DIG Ruwan Gunasekara has confirmed that a special security and traffic program will be implemented around the Election Commission in Rajagiriya tomorrow.
Janaka Ratnayake to contest
Earlier today, bonds were also placed for Janaka Ratnayake to contest the Presidential Election.
The former Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is contesting as the candidate of the ‘United Lanka Podujana Party’.
Party Secretary – Nihal Premakumara Deshapriya, had placed the security deposit on behalf of Janaka Ratnayake at the Election Commission this morning (Aug. 14).
Namal, Wijedasa sign nominations
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate – Namal Rajapaksa and National Democratic Front candidate – Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe have signed nomination papers today to contest the upcoming Presidential Election.
