Legal action against Jayasuriya, a matter beyond seas - president Featured

No one in the world will be allowed to touch ex-Army chief Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, any other former commander or any other war hero, stressed president Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (03).

SFToon 04 09 17Addressing a function at Campbell Park, Colombo to mark the 66th anniversary of the SLFP, he said the legal action filed against Jayasuriya was not a matter for Sri Lanka, but a matter beyond the seas.

He went onto say that he would not dance to the tune of NGOs, but would work together with only the NGOs that loved the country.

The president said that no Prabhakaran would have been born had either the Bandaranaike-Chelvanayagam pact or the Dudley-Chelvanayagam pact been implemented.

Ex-president Chandrika Kumaratunga, former prime minister D.M. Jayaratne, other leading SLFP politicians and party supporters from across the country participated.
