The Excise Department says that licenses of 05 companies have not been renewed over failure to pay arrears tax payments.
The Excise Commissioner General – Saman Jayasinghe says that production and distribution of these companies have been banned and their licences have not been renewed after expiring on Oct. 30.
However, there will be no dearth of alcohol products since there are ample alternative products in the market, he added.
