5 suspected of protesting during President’s Jaffna visit, summoned before courts

Four Tamil activists and MP Ramanathan Archchuna, have been ordered to appear before the Jaffna Magistrate Court today (Jan. 30), following a request made by the Jaffna police, reports say.

The individuals are said to be suspected of launching protests during President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s visit to Jaffna this week.

The police had called for the court to issue an order against holding such protests, reports say.

The five individuals had been urged to appear before the Jaffna Magistrate Court at 9.30am today.
