A 05-year-old child has died after an air rifle having accidentally discharged.
The incident is reported in the Detagamuwa area in Kataragama.
The Police said that the child had sustained head injuries and was admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital but had succumbed to injuries.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the air rifle had accidentally discharged when it was in the possession of an 18-year-old boy.
The teenager has been arrested by the Police.
