Kiththi, Ajantha vying for Dileepa’s seat! Featured

In the face of opposition by Sri Lanka Telecom employees, its CEO Dileepa Wijesundara has decided to retire in March, reports say.

Now, group chief officers K.A. Kiththi Perera (enterprise and wholesale) and Ajantha Seneviratne (marketing) are vying for the acting CEO position.

Both are said to be close to subject minister Harin Fernando.

Kiththi, who has a M.Eng for electronic and telecommunication engineering from Moratuwa University and is a chartered engineer of UK’s Institute of Electrical Engineers and Engineering Council, joined SLT in 1994.

He is said to be a pioneer in introducing Metro Ethernet to Sri Lanka.

Ajantha, who has a BSc. for electronic and telecommunication engineering from Moratuwa University, a postgraduate diploma on industrial engineering from the Open University and an MBA on business administration from Sri Jayewardenepura University, joined SLT in 1993.

The SLT director board held a meeting recently, also attended by officials of Maxies company, but failed to agree on a person for the job.

The SLT engineers union and employees are against appointing an insider for the job.

However, upon contacting Mr. Ajantha, he said that he is not interested in securing the post.

He added that the SLT chairman too has been informed on this regard.
