Politicians under probe by Bribery Commission Featured

The Bribery Commission is investigating complaints it has received against several politicians of the present and previous governments, a senior official of the commission told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Top figures in the present administration, who are accused of corrupt acts they had committed as members of the previous regime, are using their political powers to sabotage the investigations, the official charged.

A complaint is to be lodged against ex-minister Ravi Karunanayake over the rent payment for a penthouse he has occupied, by Walt and Row company owned by the Arjun Aloysius family.

President Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday (03) the bond commission report recommended legal action against Karunanayake under the bribery act.

However, the former minister has claimed the penthouse in question had been rented by his family-owned business GTL.
