EMIS in jeopardy over commissions?

The operations of the Educational Management Information System (EMIS) of the Education Ministry has faced difficulty, despite spending over 64 million for its implementation, it was revealed in the Audit report.

This information network was established in 2011 with the assistance of the Moratuwa University, while it was financed with funds allocated for the ‘Knowledgeable Society’ educational project.

For the implementation of this network the Moratuwa University alone was paid Rs. 900,000 in 2012 and over Rs. 13.8 million in 2013.

However, due to the failures of the technical specialists of this project, the network is not functioning as expected, the report further revealed.
