Officials at the Horton Plains National Park have yesterday (18) arrested 07 persons who were gem mining without a licence in the World’s End area, causing much damage to the environment.
The arrested suspects are residents of Walasmulla, Ambilipitiya, Kurunagala, and Bogawanthalawa areas and aged between 30-55 years.
Officials have also seized equipment used by them to mine gems.
