He said this while making a special statement before media at Temple Trees today (16).
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that he will remain as the country's Premier.
The PM said that according to the prevailing law, he has no reason to resign.
Noting that clashes in a unity government are common, the PM said that running it smoothly is no easy task.
He also added that he accepted the results of the recent LG polls and admitted that it was a shortcoming of the ruling parties.
He also said that the voters issued a clear warning after certain pledges made before the 2015 presidential election remained unfulfilled.
No special relationship with MR
Responding to queries, the PM also said that he has no special relationship with former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
