10 cabinet ministry secretaries retire within 2 months Featured

The public service administration is facing serious problems due to the retirement of secretaries to 10 key cabinet ministries within a period of two months.

The ministry secretaries who are retiring from mid-February to April are Udaya Seneviratne, I.H.K. Mahanama, Kingsley Fernando, Abhaya Ratnayake, W.M.P.G. Wickremasinghe, Sarath Vithana and Neil de Alwis.

They were the secretaries of the ministries of science and technology, lands, disaster management, housing, water supply, home affairs and women women’s affairs.

Also, secretary to the public service commission A. Kulatunga retired recently.

Deputy secretary to the secretary Chandra Ekanayake is due to retire this month, followed by the retirement of skills development ministry secretary Piyasena Ranepura in May.
