Call to convene CC to decide on Pujith! Featured

Civil society activists have called for an emergency meeting of the Constitutional Council to decide the fate of IGP Pujith Jayasundara.

They have urged the president to instruct the speaker to arrange the CC to look into the accusations against Jayasundara and decide if he should remain in the position any further.

Civil society organizations have asked president Maithripala Sirisena to remove the police chief, mainly over the controversial telephone call with regard to a person identified as ‘Nilame,’ he has received from a person of authority, while addressing a public meeting.

Weekend newspapers reported this telephone call established the fact that a UNP minister was influencing the police and other law enforcement authorities to clear Rajapaksa family members and their friends of various accusations.

A SLFP minister told Sri Lanka Mirror that his repeated warnings that the UNP leadership was working to divide his party have proven correct by this telephone conversation.
