Heavy rains : Public urged to be vigilant 

With the heavy rains, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) requested residents in low-lying areas close to the Millakanda Kalu, Gin rivers & Aththanagalu Oya areas to be vigilant and evacuate the area if necessary as the water levels in the rivers were rising and were on the verge of overflowing.

The Meteorology Department focused heavy rain and lightning for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Central provinces as well as the districts of Galle and Matara.

Laxapana spill gates opened
Two spill gates of the Laxapana Reservoir have been opened due to heavy rainfall causing water levels to rise. The Disaster Management Center (DMC) requests people living downstream to the reservoir to remain vigilant in this regard.
Landslide warnings
Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) today (20) issued landslide warnings for Kalutara, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Kurunegala & Galle Districts as heavy rainfall was experienced in several areas of the country.
