The “Sathiya” newspaper reports that the Ministry of Education has initiated an investigation into an incident where the Principal and a teacher of the D.S. Senanayake College in Colombo have solicited over Rs. 50 million as bribes over Grade 01 admissions to the school.

The Principal in question had faced similar accusations at the school he had worked previously as well. It is also reported that after an inquiry by the Education Ministry, the Public Service Commission had recommended that he should not be appointed to the position of a principal again.

The “Sathiya” newspaper reports that he had been appointed to the D.S. Senanayake College ignoring the PSC recommendation.

It also notes that although the individual had attempted to get his appointment to Ananda College, the Old Boys’ Association had firmly opposed it.
