9 arrested after Rs.45 Mn vehicle sale fraud at BMICH

Kurunduwatta Police said that the manager of a vehicle sales business who took more than Rs.45 million from two people who came to buy a jeep fled without giving the vehicle located at the BMICH premises.

This incident took place yesterday (20) afternoon at an office room in the BMICH. This car dealership has been established in the premises of BMICH on a rental basis.

Nine employees have been working under this manager in this car dealership.

In the investigation, it was found that the same jeep was sold to two persons and they were told to bring money to buy the jeep, and he took the amount of Rs.45,500,000 that they had and fled with it.Police also say that he escaped through the back door of the office room.In this regard, the two persons who came to buy vehicles complained to the BMICH Police.

Then a team of officers from the Kurunduwatta Police station came and conducted investigations and took the nine employees at this institution into Police custody.

Police say that necessary steps have been taken to prevent the suspect from leaving the country and investigations are underway to arrest him.
