Proposal says no exams until 17 years of age Featured

The National Child Protection Authority is to propose a radical change in education by abolishing all school examinations for students below 17 years of age.

Chairman of the Authority H.M. Abeyratne says they are prepared for a dialogue in society on the matter.

The existing examinations system is stressful to children and their effects are felt even after they reach adulthood, according to him.

He says the GCE ordinary level examination could be arranged to be held for over 17 year olds.
