Security units at BIA awaiting Udayanga’s arrival

The 'Yahapalana Vindithayo' organization states that the government has deployed security personnel at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport to immediately arrest former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga and portray a picture that would be beneficial to the prevailing rule.

However, although arrangements were made for Udayanga’s arrival this week, due to the deployment of security personnel at the BIA, plans for his return would be delayed, the organization added.

They said that legal measures are being taken currently to prevent the former Ambassador being arrested and after the legal measures are completed, Weeratunge would be brought back to the country within the following three weeks.

The 'Yahapalana Vindithayo' organization noted that a motion would be filed at the Supreme Court tomorrow (29) seeking an order preventing Weeratunge from being arrested upon his return.
