Ven. Agalakada Sirisumana Thera, Professor of Colombo University’s Sinhala Studies Department, was injured in a car accident that took place in Kesbewa at around 3.00 pm yesterday (01), the Kesbewa Police said.
The accident had occurred while the Thera was on his way from his temple in Lunawa, Moratuwa to attend a Dhamma sermon at a temple in Kumbuka, Horana which was scheduled to be held at around 5.00 pm.
The accident had taken place near a supermarket in Kesbewa when the car the Thera was travelling in collided with another car.
It was reported that the thera’s condition is out of danger.
Both vehicles have suffered heavy damages. The Kesbewa Police are conducting further investigations.
