Agreement signed to develop 2 floating solar plants in SL

An agreement was signed today (31) by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and the Ministry of Power and Energy on the development of the first floating solar development project in Sri Lanka.

Tweeting, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera announced that a USD 5.2 Million grant was extended by KIAT to the Sustainable Energy Authority to develop the 02 projects consisting of 1 MW each of Floating Solar.

He also noted that the projects will be developed on the Chandrika Wewa and Kiri Ibban Wewa, located in the Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces respectively.

The Minister further noted that the project is set to be completed by December 2024.
