It is reported that UNP leader – Ranil Wickremesinghe will today (Aug. 30) sign the letter effectively removing Palitha Range Bandara from the post of UNP General Secretary.
The matter of Range Bandara’s removal had been discussed at length during an UNP management committee meeting which was held on Aug. 29.
It has been proposed to appoint former Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP – Thalatha Athukorala, as the new General Secretary of the UNP.
Meanwhile, former UNP General Secretary – Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has also been tipped for the post, reports say.
