PTI Chairman Imran Khan revealed on Friday (04) that he already knew about the looming danger as he broke the silence a day after being shot during an “assassination attempt.”
Addressing the PTI supporters from Shaukat Khanum Hospital – where he is receiving treatment for his injuries – Khan said: “I had already learned that there was a plan in place to kill me somewhere between Wazirabad and Gujrat.”
Meanwhile, responding to Mr. Khan’s allegations that three people, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and a major of the Pakistan army, were involved in plotting his assassination, the country’s military rejected the statement as “baseless.”
In a seperate development, PTI’s Lahore division Secretary Zubair Niazi said that the police are not accepting their complaint to register a case against the assassination attempt on PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The leader said in a media talk that he has been at the Wazirabad City Police Station to lodge an FIR and that the SHO took a picture of their complaint and shared it with the district police officer, but the police did not officially register a case.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has taken over the probe into the attack and the main accused is said to be taken to the CTD cell in Chung, where he is being interrogated by the CTD and other agencies.
Thursday’s attack left one dead and 13 injured and the ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ halted till Khan regained health.
