Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera has made arrangements to submit a Cabinet paper requesting funds from the Treasury or the two main state banks at a reasonable interest rate for the purchase of paddy by the Paddy Marketing Board in the 2022/23 Maha Season.
The minister has already signed the Cabinet paper and it is to be presented to the Cabinet next week.
A total of 770,000 hectares have been cultivated with paddy in the Maha Season.
