Anuradhapura-Omanthai train service resumes

The train services along the Northern railway Line which were restricted from Anuradhapura to Omanthai will resume from July 15, Sri Lanka Railways said.

The railway track was closed for renovation and the renovation activities were completed with Indian loan assistance.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardana is scheduled to visit the railway track today (13) and inspect its condition.

Sri Lanka Railways also said that with the restoration of this railway line, several train journeys will be operated between Colombo Fort and Kankesanturai.

However, the railway line between Maho and Anuradhapura is to be renovated in the near future, during which the train service to Kankesanturai will have to be stopped again.
