The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill for the year 2025 was passed in the Parliament today (Feb. 25) by a majority of 109 votes.
The Second Reading vote was held around 6.10 pm where 155 votes were cast in favor of the Bill and 46 votes were cast against it.
The Committee Stage debate of Budget 2025 will commence from Feb. 27 and will continue for 19 days before the vote on the Third Reading is held at 6.00pm on March 21.
The Colombo High Court has ordered the re-convening of the case filed by the Attorney General against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa on September 26.
The case pertains to allegations that Rajapaksa received Rs. 70 million from the Indian company ‘Krrish’ under the pretext of promoting the game of rugby.
Rajapaksa, appeared before the court when the case was taken up today (June 27).
