Professor Ashu Marasinghe, who resigned from the position of Presidential Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs, has been re-appointed from January 31 by the President.

Recently, a video circulated on social media sites accusing Marasinghe of sexually assaulting his purported girlfriend Adarsha Karadhana’s pet dog.

Professor Marasinghe resigned from his position following this incident.

Meanwhile, former MP Hirunika Premachandra called a press conference with Karandana and accused Marasinghe of animal abuse.

Professor Marasinghe has sent a letter of demand seeking Rs.500 million from Ms. Premachandra and Rs. 1 billion from Ms. Karadana as compensation saying the allegations have damaged his reputation.
