Bangladesh Bank suspends ACU transactions with Sri Lanka

The Central Bank of Bangladesh (Bangladesh Bank) has informed that country’s banks not to do any business transactions with Sri Lanka through the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) payment scheme.

This decision has been taken following the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s decision to temporarily withdraw from the ACU payment scheme from the 14th.

The Bangladesh Bank in a statement said that it has informed all banks not to conduct any trades or business related transactions with Sri Lanka through the ACU.

The Asian Clearing Union, which was established in 1974 under the leadership of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, is a mechanism for the settlement of interregional payments.
