Founder of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) – Basil Rajapaksa has stated that it is not appropriate to take up the matter of Presidential candidates at this juncture.
He has said this during a meeting yesterday (March 20) with SLPP MPs at the party headquarters.
56 SLPP MPs had attended the meeting and so had former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The party’s plans to mark the Labour Day was also taken up and it was decided to hold the party May Rally at Campbell Park, Borella.

Basil had also pointed out that it was the current President who had even made it possible to reach an airport after the ‘Aragalaya’ protests.
Meanwhile, Mr. Rajapaksa and President Ranil Wickremesinghe are to hold a discussion today (21) where the matters of a Presidential election and a General election are expected to be taken up.
