The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has appointed a committee consisting of senior lawyers to study the draft of the Counter Terrorism Act (CTA) which has been gazetted.
BASL Chairman Kaushalya Navaratne said that if the committee recommends that there are issues in the draft bill, the BASL will point them out in the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe said that the CTA has been prepared according to internationally accepted principles.
However, Samagi Jana Balawegaya National Organiser Tissa Attanayake said that their party is against the proposed bill.
