It is reported that the government is mulling to hand over the airports at Katunayake, Mattala and Ratmalana to an Indian company.
Minister of Tourism, Lands and Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Harin Fernando has said this during a press briefing held at the President Media Centre yesterday (Jan. 31) under the theme ‘Collective Path to a Stable Country’.
He has added that plans are underway to develop the terminals at these airports with modern technology.
He has also stated that tourist arrivals have risen by 106% this year in comparison to that of last year and that he hopes the annual tourist arrivals will be increased to 04 million by 2030.
He further noted that they hope to increase the number of tourism zones from 49 to 64 as well as to start two domestic air services.
