The biological samples of a patient who died after being administered an antibiotic at the Colombo National Hospital (CNH), have been sent to India for further investigation, Deputy Director General of Health Services G. Wijesuriya said.
He said that the samples of the antibiotic Co-amoxiclav were also sent to Australia for further investigation.
The Deputy Director General of Health Services said that a decision regarding the death can be made once the results of the investigations are released.
The deceased was a 50-year-old man who had come from Warakapola to receive treatment for a cut wound.
The use of Co-amoxiclav given to the patient has also been suspended.
