Body found from Mini World’s End

A team from the Army Commando Regiment today (Oct. 16) has recovered the body of a young man that was disposed of at the Mini World’s End.

The remains, which were partly decomposed, had been handed over to the Madolsima police for further examination and investigations.

After learning that the murder had taken place on Oct, 01, two suspects have been arrested.

During police interrogations, it was disclosed that the 22-year-old victim was murdered by the two apprehended individuals, who had subsequently disposed of his body at Punchi Lokanthaya.

In response to a request from the Madolsima police, a large team of Sri Lanka Army Commando Regiment had descended into the gorge to locate the body.

Gazette issued for salt imports

A gazette notification has been issued for the import of salt.

Controller General of Imports – Upulmali Premathilaka states that a gazette notification has been issued allowing the import of salt until June 10th.

Accordingly, a license is not required to import salt.

She noted that any importer who has recommendations from the Ministry of Health can import salt and that it is possible to import non-iodized and table salt under this.

Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security Wasantha Samarasinghe stated that 250 MT of salt for consumption will be imported into the country today (May 20).

The Minister also stated that the salt stocks imported from India will arrive in the country soon.

Keheliya produced before court

Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, who has been arrested and remanded in connection with 03 cases filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), has been produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court by prison officials.

The case is scheduled to be taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today (May 20).
