It has been reported that radiology services at the Accident Ward of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) are disrupted.
Government Radiological Technologists’ Association (GRTA) President Chanaka Dharmawickrama, states that this was due to the breakdown of the only operational radiology machine yesterday (April 08).
The Accident ward initially had two radiology machines. One had broken down completely about a year ago, while the remaining one had stopped working yesterday. The GRTA had further stated that both broken machines are over 20 years old.
Since then, radiology services were provided from the machine at the adjoining Neurology unit. However, that machine too had experienced some technical difficulties leading to patients now being directed to the Bandaranaike Building for radiology services.
