The Ministry of Transport has made arrangements to reduce all bus fares, including the minimum bus fare of Rs.30, by nearly 20% from July 1st.
According to the national policy, the responsibility of reducing bus fares has been assigned to the National Transport Commission (NTC) and it is reported that the NTC is making calculations related to 12 categories.
A spokesman for the NTC said a final percentage will be calculated taking into account 12 categories including fuel price, vehicle spare parts price, tire and battery price.
In addition, the 20% increase in the bus fare applied during the Covid-19 pandemic was scheduled to be reduced by 10%. Since it has not been reduced so far, that reduction of 10% will also be included in the final percentage of reducing bus fares.
