Businessman’s murder in Pinwatta; police suspect ex-wife!

Police have recorded statements from 15 people, including the ex-wife, in relation to the murder of the millionaire businessman who was shot dead in Pinwatta, Panadura.

The 52-year-old businessman named Anuradha Sampath Kudagama, a liquor shop owner residing in Kirillawala, Kadawatha, was killed on February 28 morning.

The businessman had been living in a house in Pinwatta with a mother of two children from Kalutara after leaving his wife. The second wife is a teacher. The businessman was shot dead by two motorcyclists when he arrived at the house under construction in Pinwatte, after dropping off the two children and their mother at the school.

The bullets that entered the right cheek of the victim had exited through the left arm.

The motorcycle on which the shooters arrived was found abandoned at Weragama in Wadduwa and investigations revealed that its number plate was fake.

Police are investigating whether the victim was killed due to a recent dispute that arose with his first wife.

They are also looking into another person with whom the victim had a dispute regarding the land in Pinwatte and whether he was killed on a contract given by this individual.

So far, statements have been recorded from 15 people including the ex-wife, the woman who he lived with, and his employees.

No one has been arrested so far and further investigations are being conducted under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police in charge of Panadura Division.
