The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has conducted a raid at V.A. Distilleries (Pvt.) Ltd. after receiving a complaint that the company is allegedly using expired Malt for their alcohol production.
The complaint had been filed by the ‘Mage Rata’ organization and the complaint is as follows :
Following a raid at the factory in Galagedara, Padukka, the CAA has taken several samples of the malt stocks as well.
The CAA had taken these measures after securing a special approval to raid the factory.
The company, which had functioned for around 30 years, is currently chaired by Vajira Gunasekara.
