Cabinet approval for Port City Hospital

Cabinet approval has been granted for a proposal to develop a hospital within the Colombo Port City, under an investment of USD 100 million by by Asiri Port City Hospital (Pvt) Company.

The relevant project was deemed eligible for exemptions or incentives under 2(b) of Colombo Port City (Guidelines on the Grant of Exemptions or Incentives to Businesses of Strategic Importance) Regulations, No. 2 of 2023.

As such, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of Investment Promotion, tabled to the Cabinet that the relevant exemptions or incentives be granted for the said project, adding that the project be announced as a primary business of strategic importance through a gazette order and later presented before the Parliament.

4 SL players in ICC men’s ODI team of 2024

Four Sri Lankan players have been included in the ICC men’s ODI team of 2024.

Sri Lankan players Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been named in this manner.

Also, Charith Asalanka has been named as the captain while Kusal Mendis has been named as the wicket keeper of the team.

2 including Salochana Gamage granted bail

Two persons including former Western Provincial Councillor – Salochana Gamage, who were arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe, have been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (24).

Each suspect was granted bail, subject to a cash bail of Rs. 25,000, two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each, and an overseas travel ban. 

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali also ordered that the guarantors must be close relatives of the two suspects.
