The Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved a streamlined ‘one chop’ visa system for 38 countries, which will be implemented immediately.
This system, inspired by Singapore’s approach, simplifies the visa issuance process by requiring only a single official stamp or seal on the applicant’s passport, signifying visa approval without additional bureaucratic steps.
Harin Fernando, Advisor to the Ministry of Tourism, explained that this new system is designed to make the visa process quicker and more straightforward, enhancing convenience for travelers.
Originally, the Cabinet had decided to allow visa-free access for 35 countries starting October 01, 2024, but the new system is now in effect immediately.
