Cabinet has approved a proposal to establish two solar power plants in Sampur, Trincomalee in a joint venture with India.
Stage one of the project will be a 50 Megawatt capacity plant while a 70 Megawatt plant will be established during stage two.
They will be implemented by the Trincomalee Power Company Ltd, established as a partnership by the Ceylon Electricity Board and National Thermal Power Corporation of India as a joint venture between two governments.
