The campaign period for the upcoming Presidential Election will end at midnight tonight (18), the Election Commission has announced.
Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Ratnayake, warned that any individual or group engaging in campaigning after the deadline will be in violation of election law and could face arrest.
After the campaign period concludes, all public rallies, distribution of promotional materials, and door-to-door canvassing will be prohibited, with the police instructed to enforce these regulations.
