Car stolen from Hemas Hospital car park, found

Two suspects have been arrested over the theft of a car from the Hemas Hospital car park in Thalawathugoda, on May 27.

Police state that in addition to the stolen vehicle, they have also seized another vehicle used to carry out the robbery, two mobile phones, a number of SIM cards, and equipment used to unlock the vehicle from the suspects’ possession.

The arrested suspects are residents of the Thihagoda and Kaduwela areas and are aged 32 and 39 years, police add.

They will be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today (30).

Four Sri Lankan players have been included in the ICC men’s ODI team of 2024.

Sri Lankan players Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been named in this manner.

Also, Charith Asalanka has been named as the captain while Kusal Mendis has been named as the wicket keeper of the team.

2 including Salochana Gamage granted bail

Two persons including former Western Provincial Councillor – Salochana Gamage, who were arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe, have been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (24).

Each suspect was granted bail, subject to a cash bail of Rs. 25,000, two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each, and an overseas travel ban.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali also ordered that the guarantors must be close relatives of the two suspects.
