The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has stated that they will have no option but to protest if there is no positive signal by April on delivering justice for the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

Speaking at the Mass Communication Conference held at the Archbishop’s House in Colombo on March 15, he said, “We are hopeful for a positive signal regarding the Easter Sunday attacks before its sixth anniversary in April. Otherwise we will have to take to the streets in protests.”

“Those who ruled the country made promises regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, but they did not keep even a single promise. We brought this government to power to change that system. However, if the system does not change, we will have to rethink,” he added.

You have been given enough power to bring the necessary laws and bring about changes to safeguard people’s freedom, media freedom and human rights. Take steps to build a truly democratic Sri Lanka so we don’t see a repetition of past crimes such as murders, disappearances, ethnic clashes etc.,” the Cardinal further said.
