Joint Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (JCPSM) has launched an island wide strike in hospitals today (05) due to the Ministry of Health not providing solutions to tissues they have raised.
General Secretary of the JCPSM – Chanaka Dharmawickrama, had previously stated that the strike will begin at 8.00 am today,
However, it has been noted that specific institutions, including the Cancer Hospital, Maternity and Children’s Hospitals, Kidney Hospitals, and the Central Blood Bank (CBB), will not be affected by the strike.
Dharmawickrama, also stated that five professional bodies including medical laboratory services, pharmacy sectors, and others, will join the strike today.
The JCPSM has emphasised that it will not call off the strike unless a formal discussion is held and tangible steps are taken to address their concerns.
