The Government of China has agreed to provide 10.6 million liters of fuel for Sri Lanka’s agricultural and fishing activities as per a request made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Ministry of Agriculture said 750,000 liters of diesel to be received under Chinese grant will be provided free for agricultural activities.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the stock of fuel is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka by December and steps will be taken to distribute them to the farmers at the time of harvesting.
Meanwhile, the ministry said the farmers can meet with the district secretaries and take action if there are any issues with fuel during the harvesting season.
