The Easy-Maintenance Water Plant gifted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences commenced operation at Metihakka, Matale yesterday (12).
According to the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka, the plant will convert 120,000 litres of ground water into drinking water for 800 villagers in the area every day.
