Deputy Health Minister Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni has assured the public that there is no shortage of commonly prescribed medicines in government hospitals.
Responding to reports claiming of a current shortage of drugs, Dr. Wijemuni has issued a statement, clarifying that essential medications for conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes are available without disruption.
However, he has admitted that certain other drugs have been affected by ongoing supply chain issues.
“These disruptions are not new… they have existed for several years,” he had stated, adding that measures are being taken to completely resolve the issue 2026.
