CID urges CIABOC to probe into charges against Epic Lanka

The CID has requested the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to investigate the awarding of a passport procurement Tender to a private company in Sri Lanka for a period of 21 years, and the erasing of sensitive data from the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA).

The relevant allegations in these incidents are linked to Epic Lanka, a wholly Sri Lankan-owned fintech and digital transformation solutions provider. Dr. Nayana Dehigama functions as the Epic Technology Group Founder and Executive Chairman.

The CID’s request is based on a relevant complaint previously filed with them by the Doctors’ Trade Union Alliance for Medical and Civil Rights.

The complaint questions the awarding of the Tender to a single company for a prolonged period of 21 years.

In addition, ‘Epic Lanka’ was the database service provider of the NMRA, when the infamous incident of data being erased was reported on July 09, 2021. However, the company had stated that it had occurred due to a mistake of an engineer.
