Circular issued on usage of social media apps for school work
The Ministry of Education has issued a circular which includes guidelines for using social media apps for school work.
The circular signed by the Ministry secretary – Ms. T. Jayasundera, has been addressed to school principals and relevant education authorities.
The circular states that as reports of negative effects of school groups on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram etc., introduced for students’ use during the Covid-19 pandemic have been reported,
It advises principals and education authorities to monitor educational groups on such platforms to ensure quality communication and protect student privacy.
